I've been suffering from insomnia for a few weeks now.. to the point where I'm either getting no sleep whatsoever, or at best a couple of hours of really disturbed, restless slumber.

Now, I've spoken to a few others in the community (mainly not Nox people) who seem to be going through the same thing, or who've just managed to get ontop of it.

Was wondering if anyone else here, vamp or otherkin, is having the same problem?

Thanks,
Cama

yeah.. I've been having insomnia for the past half year or so.. but after I started taking anti depressants (there's been so much other shite going on so I figures "why not?") I started sleeping again.. not really good sleep.. or sleep all night, but at least it's sleep.. compaired to the sleepless 6-days binges I had before it's really good.. hehe

do ya know of any particular reason why you might have insomnia hunni? something else going on in your life?

*huggles*

Hey hunnie yup I’ve been going through the same thing of late but it seems to have sorted itself out now thank god. I went to see my doctor after 78 hours of no sleep and I was on the verge of hallucinating. He gave me some meds but the first lot did work so I went back and the second lot just made me worse.
It has sorted itself out now and I’ve been getting around 4hr a night but its unsettled. I could put it all down to stress as there’s been a lot of it around me lately. And my concentration is zero at the moment too but thats nothing new with me *laughs*
Not sure what changed to make it simmer down but I’m grateful for what ever it is lol
I hope you get something sorted soon darlin and you know where iam if you need someone to chat to at the wee hours in the morning ;)

I have had numerous problems with sleep for years, and quite a few bouts of insomnia. I do not know if it is as a result of being vamp and otherkin as I am a shift worker as well. I have found that breathing exercises can be of use to help with drifting off to sleep, relaxing or perhaps giving the mind some distraction long enough to allow you to sleep. Often other stressors can attribute to the situation and I have also known the stress of not being able to sleep to be one of the stressors keeping me awake at times.

The only thing that I can suggest is breathing exercises and perhaps certain herbal remedies. Another aspect could be that the opportunity to sleep is being missed, the body naturally produces Serotonin, when these levels dip one begins to feel drowsy, however if one persists these levels can begin to climb again and will prevent you from sleeping, the process can have a dramatic effect on ones sleep pattern.

It is a common problem for shift workers that are on rotating rosters to have difficulty in adjusting the disruption to their body clocks, because when they do grow tired they are unable to sleep and so the Serotonin levels rise again, when the shift ends although feeling like a train wreck they still cannot sleep. I have found when this happens to me, I will partake in mundane activities with very little stimulus that involves concentration, the focus necessary and the lack of stimulus, may provide that window necessary in order to gain some sleep.

However if the problem is clinical these exercises will not be of much aid.

Thanks a lot for all your responses.

For myself it's not generally something I have an issue with, except when certain changes are in the air.. normally if anything I need to sleep too much (slow metabolism etc).

It was just interesting to me that it was something that a few kin have mentioned over the last month or so, so I'm curious as to whether it's just a personal problem or if there's some wider reason for it- in the same way as a lot of us will tend to get affected when there are a large number of solar flares etc.

Thanks again for all the input and shall certainly try some of the suggestions.. anything that might help is appreciated at the moment.:)

You can't really go by me, because I have had a "sleep disturbance" for a very long time.
I had a sleep study done years ago and they said I not only don't sleep often enough, but when I do I don't go into the deeper levels of sleep.

I feel for you...I know it is a horrible feeling to be tired all of the time.
I hopre it resolves itself soon.

Thanks a lot.. going to see the doctor about it if it doesn't change, but there's been so much other stuff going on (increased visions etc) that I really don't think it's medical.

Hope you can find some way to resolve things for yourself!

Personally I go through 'swings and roundabouts' with sleep. When under great stress or actively distressed I cannot sleep at night, I get intermittant bouts of about 45 mins here or there and they are usually punctuated with nasty dreams. When trying to sleep, i have raised temperature, hypersensitivity outbursts and my therian issues become very strong.

Then Im so tired I can sleep for about 2 hours in the day.. and its very deep sleep.. too deep infact as Im groggy once i wake up for the rest of the day.

When my life is reasonably settled or happy I do sleep quite well, but generally live on 5 hours to 6 hours sleep a night..

Not sure if that helps, but just adding another voice to the.. you're not alone with this.. cry. :)

do you have a lot on your mind when you try to sleep?I know that just before bed myself I have a burst of energy, and then my mind simply won't shut up. (heheh scary scary inside MY mind lol) I am either going over what needs to be done the next day or things that occourred that particular day. The only way I have found to deal with it is to make use of the energy burst (god knows why I get it) and try to wind down. If there is nothing that can take it away then I take an extra long bath even if I have had one that day gives me time for me and the hotter it is the sleepier I get.............but hehe I guess youa re far from alone hun lol:bat:
