View Full Version : Those who don't believe...

About a week or so ago, I was browsing in a chat room, when someone entered and asked if vampires were actually real and if it was a religion...
Of course, I answered them that yes vampires are real. At least three other people went berserk on me calling me every name in the book telling me I was crazy for believing that.
I tried telling them its not what I believe, its what I know to be true.
Anyhow, a question has just popped in my mind. Is it okay for me to refer people to this site to show them that its no joke? Even if they aren't vampires that would like to join. But just to show people that they are out there...

Well they would have to get thru the application process first.. and if they don't beleive and are talking crazy they wont get thru it... You can tell them to google it, but the bottom line, is even then they still may not beleive you... So good luck..

Given what most people "know" (as in, think they know) about vampires, its natureal for them to say that of course vampires don't exsist, and to think that you are crazy for thinking as you do.
There are PLENTY of public message boards, websites and the like where they can learn plenty of information, and ask as many questions as they like.
I don't think they'll get in here with the attitude of "You're all nutters"

well you do have to remember that it is their right not to believe, not believing is understandable

Why not, i think that its ok if you give them the link to our home, but if they are welcomed with open arms is another thing.

I don't think they are ready for it...I agree with Eclecta, they should probably research before coming here. I remember Sangi's PHP boards always having ppl like this coming in and starting trouble before the mods could get a chance to ban them or whatever...

Yeah, but we don't want people just coming in here to start telling us we are freaks... This is supposed to be our safe haven.

I get people calling me a freak anyway, but I think that may have to do with all the leather and vinyl I wear...hmm...

last time i was called a freak i recounted the time i plotted against someone and dropped a good sized rock on their head

I might be frightened if people came around calling us freaks... oh my... lol Though would be nice to have those who come here have a true purpose or at least accepting.

I agree with what a few people have said, they need to research (( or be directed to sites where they can find facts/ask questions)) Before they come here, maybe you could tell them go to ex: www.blahblah.com and if they research for a while you will give them another site to go to. *shrugs some* just an idea.

Well, to most people outside of the vampire community, we are totally nuts. And I suppose we can't blame them for their ignorance. I would have no problem with people being sent here as long as they are open minded.

I only like pink if it in the form of cotton candy or pink lemonaide... LOL

All I ever buy is maternity clothes and you don't need those LOL...

Really though, anything standard black is the only guideline I follow. I don't wear vinyl, latex, leather, etc. Just simple black...

I'm like that too though I have a couple of other colors in my wardrobe. But not many.

I wear alot of pink....I'm a true rebel.

LMAO.

Yea, some people find rock climbing crazy....like I do...lol.
There will always be something to someone that pushes that limit.

My friend Anne suggested I buy some rit dye and buy whatever colors and then just dye em all black... Gotta find some of that soon. LOL

Wow.. lucky girl... that would be awesome. Of course, in typical me style I decided that I wanted a dangerous liaisons style dress for hallowe'en this year.. but there's no way that I have time to make it and I can't find ANYTHING decent this side of the pond to buy.. so shall have to just come up with something else.

RedRaven219

Yeah, I'm going to be Death from Sandman. He is making me a skirt for it I think and a top, but over all this is a pretty easy costume. I'm also wearing it to Dragoncon as far as I know.

Cool.. you'll have to put some pics up once the gallery gets going. I'm really looking forward to Hallowe'en this year, going to a big party... I've not really had much chance to do anything beyond going to the usual clubs with my mates on Hallowe'en in the past, so for once it's a chance to go all-out costume wise *grins*.

RedRaven219

Ok, if my bloody scanner decides it will play along, then I'll get them on. One way or another I will have some cool pics. Erik is going as V from V for Vendetta. He has almost finished the costume, it looks amazing. He made the mask from scratch.

Wow.. that sounds fabulous.. it's a shame that we don't tend to do Hallowe'en as much over here as y'all do. Even trick or treating is only more common now... not something that I ever got to do as a kid.

Le sigh. As my posistion has been, it's generally bad to call yourselves "Vampires" because there's so much negative stigma. There's people that want to be the supernatural entities in legends, there's those that think they *are* and aren't, there may or may not be those that think they are and *are* and whatnot. When you go out saying "I need blood to function properly" that's one thing, but people think you're also saying "I can't go out in the day lest I burst into flames, I have superstrength and can take the form of a bat." And don't think I missed the lupine form or something like that, I'm only talking about base stereotypes.

If you drink blood and it makes you feel better, you drink blood and it makes you feel better. If you "Drain energy" and it makes you feel better, then you drain energy and it makes you feel better. I personally think it's a variation on psychosematic activity in the latter case, and certain genetic deficiency or the like in the former case. But I don't proclaim to know that. I'm open to sugguestion.

If you speak only the facts, without the implications of the word "Vampire" and people still shun you, then they either just don't believe you (who cares) or they're idiots (also who cares). It's when people jump to conclusions where they think that anyone that drinks blood thinks they're a supernatural entity that things become a bit less clear cut. People are always willing to call people crazy, and they're not often willing to accept the supernatural, unless of course it's something from their deity.

But, once again, I had to just go and open my big mouth when I very well could have shut up.

Oh gosh I know how that is. I remember going in chatrooms and when someone mentioned vampyres mostly everyone would make fun of the person. I remember I used to try to explain to people and try to get the to understand but the truth is not everyone will. Some people are not ment to understand us which is ok. See people are corrupted by hollywood and the stories of Dracula. You watch movies and shows (examples: Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Angel) and the truth about vampyres is all twisted around. I learned that no matter how hard you try to tell someone the truth you can't change someones beliefs just like that. Everyone believes in what they wish so there will always be people who will make fun of us. I respect their beliefs but I just wish they would do the same.

I hear ya darkangel. I've always believed its not cool to force your beliefs on someone else. Defending it is another matter...

But just because its not understood or "scientifically" proven doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

So what if you don't believe it? Don't go shooting your mouth off at the person just because you don't believe what they are saying.

Even if I don't believe what they are saying, I listen. Who knows? You may actually learn something. That is one of the more depressing faults about people.

They can't just listen to another person's beliefs without trying to make fun of them, or tell them that they are wrong just because they don't believe it.

Another reason this community is so great! We all are allowed to state our opinions and beliefs. If someone else doesn't like it, then they may state that. But still keep respect for what that person believes.

Exactly! But I agree defending is a different matter.

Even if I don't believe in someone elses beliefs I still give them the opportunity to tell me their beliefs just as long as they are not offending. Yes, sometimes we may learn something.

People who make fun of other ones beliefs will never change. It is called life.

I love our family here. I love how we can be ourselves and it doesn't matter because everyone accepts each other here and respects each other. *smiles*

I agree with Craze as well. No matter how hard we try to get people to believe us we can't make them believe. They have their right to believe in what they want. We are lucky to come across people who want to learn about us.
