Yup, thats the name. Not sure that she was a vamp though, but haven't read a huge amount about her. She had a belief that bathing in the blood would keep her young... not sure if she ever ingested though.

she bathed in the blood of vergins. and thaught that the blood was good for her skin. she didnt dry off with cloth either. she was licked clean by her servents the cloth was too abrasive on her skin.
she made the mistake of killing a noble girl instead of a pesant and was put to a most gruesome death.

though for years was often labeled along with vamps ... in truth she was one of the first serial killer and as what was stated she thought their blood aided her skin keeping a youthful appearence

In the 1476 Vlad was aided by Stephen Bathory of Transylvania and Stephan of Moldavia in reconquering Wallachia. Stephen was the great uncle of Ezrabet.

Yeah, she was most likely just a serial killer afraid of aging, though I've never heard of the being licked clean part before I must say.

Vlad wasnt even known until Stroker did the book and again was refound in like the 60's or 70's when there was the revaloution in Romania. The leader (I cant remember his name) wanted a hero for the country. So they started to dig into the past more deeply.
He was NOT a vampire, just a twisted man who got off on impaling people. When he was imprisoned by the Turks he was known to imaple rats in his cel.
But, he did a lot for the country. Just made it so nobody wanted to invade. I couldnt imagine the sight or smell of thousands of people on the pole in fields as far as you can see.
That is what enraged the turks to try and get him out of power.

True enough Master Thaddeus but Vlad was blood related to the Bathorys and gypsy does ask an interesting question. Stoker using Vlad as a basis for Dracula has no bearing on their bloodline. Though Tepes did not subscribe to the same beliefs of eternal youth (that we know of) he did have something of a bloodlust and was known to dip his bread in blood. Was this merely just because he could? Because he believed perhaps that the blood of the enemy would give him their strength as so many others believed at this time? Or did he have a bloodlust he did not make public? Perhaps a belief that it would extend his life or keep him young as Erzabet did? The possibilities are infinite as there is no possible way we could know what truly went on in his mind.
Therefore I would not rule out the possiblity of vampirism. It is generally accepted as fact that vampirism can, in fact, run in families but skip generations.
