View Full Version : Vampirism and geographical location

Sounds wierd, eh? lol

Something I have looked into before and actually try to keep tabs on is vampirism related to geographical location.
Watching those who come to the board from the states (due to the fact it is the only territory I am familiar with) I notice that many come from the south.

I myself live in the north but when I visit the deep south...notice an energy that permiates the air and makes me feel alive. Theres even a smell....but that could be nothing. lol

Anyway, with the help of eclecta, it was a formed opinion in my mind that energy is carried heavier through the south than say the northern areas. The amounts of moisture in the humidity and air can actually "trap" the energy for extended periods of time....the energy itself clutching onto every particle it can find. There are many things that can result because of this when you are a pranist. Even a sanguin can pick up on this without realizing how it penetrates and absorbs into their every pore.

There is of course the ease at feeding. As some have had to....feeding off the fauna and flora in the area is a useful knowledge and some use the elements as well. Well, why not the actual atmosphere itself? Energy changes....but it doesn't die.
The south is full of history and great events that emitted alot of energy. Is it possible that with the dense air...these energies are trapped longer in this situation than say with a dryer climate where the energy disipates and is released higher into the atmosphere due to the lack of particles to "cling" onto?

Also, is it possible that this abundance has something to do with the pranist finding out who they are and what they need at a larger rate than the ones in the north?

Of course those who live in the south become acclamated and need to feed regularily like anyone else....but for those of us who are not used to bieng exposed as much...its like a rush...and one that personally, I really like. hehe

I have more to say...but just want to see what other input I could possibly get here.

why not attach a general poll to this thread as a geographical area can be fairly general anyway the only problem in this is that this site is mainly From English speaking countries with exseption of a few members here at Nox.

since most countries have boards and forums for there own country and being numeruse in most cases it wont really give any real stats on to vampires and there geographical locations since its all over the west of eourope and only on internet based subject how many vampires reside in Africa but then how many internet accessed computers are there for connection to the online communites

Just a thought

Hmm. well, far as i know, im one of , if not the farthest north vamp (in canada anyway, i make no claim as to alaska or Russia) but i am far more cerain im the only one for a good couple hundred miles. makes one feel a lot more alone sure, but i find there is MUCH less to try and attack ones self. overall much quioeter...bvut in a lot of ways that does hinder growth i think, nothing to test yoruself against, so to speak, if that makes sence.

Preist makes a good point and since some of us here are also members of boards from other countries...it would be interesting to see what they have to say. I admit I don't know much about climates in other countries...but say for Europe...is there an area that is more humid that another? Maybe more history in tha part as well?

Devon...thanks for the help...I think it would be interesting at any point.

I myself am from the north....but I do come from a pretty humid northern state believe it or not. Over 15,000 lake in the state alone. lol
Where I live now (dry north)...I have heard of only about 3 others and one doesn't even live here anymore. Back in my home state....many, many of us.

Very interesting thread.. hoping others will want to contribute to this and get the discussion going again.

Certainly where I live, there are very few of us... but, it is also true to say that there are many vamps that the impression that looking online gives. I've only met a handful of irish vamps who were active on any of the forums, but when you walk around you notice quite a few more. Saying that though, being on mainly american based boards has shown me that we have a much smaller vamp/kin population than in the USA.

It's quite a plausible, original theory Celeste, good work.

Where I live now, in Brighton, which is South-East England, we seem to have a different climate to the rest of the country, more similar to France and Spain (which are, of course, just over the east water)

Now, here we have one of the largest Pagan communities in the entire UK, and the atmosphere around here is just... well, it's one of the very very few places that I can soberly stay in open spaces, with large amounts of people without going into full shock after about an hour. You really have to be here to experience it, but the people tend to be... just.... different here.

I don't really know that many self-confessed Vampires here, but as I say, I've been out of the community for a while. This seems to support your theory about climate....

but maybe it could just be, that people flock to heat.. and sunshine makes people happier? I'm not sure.

i was born in pittsbugh, pennsylvania...rather year round weather... all four seasons. coal mineing town. the woods have ok vibes but the city has mean people... i moved to las cruces new mexico when i was 16.. high school.. crazy hormones...real hott...good peeps and gangs....but the desert was a haven...very magical.. very loving. i live back in pittsburgh now and i raise my cubs here...i see what its doing to them to be raised so close to a city. youve seen those bratz dolls...im so scared for my cubs...im a country girl...open spaces and dense forest. i thik the more albow room, the better the people. the better the people, the better the vibes. there is still a strong following in native american culture there. people who still belive....im drawn back to the south west....or florida (humidity makes me cranky though) the energys are not confined....open ranges open spaces....."Down With The Concrete Jungle".

This is a very interesting theory. I am from the south but have lived in the north also. I must say I agree with the theory. The energy here in the south is something totally different from the other places I have lived. I feel more alive here. I am also able to feed more easily here. I'd love to hear more from others on the subject.

Born and raised in San Diego, California. There are many places where one can absorb natural energies, so it's handy. We have some coastal areas that are just sparkling in the air with it. And then we have the desserts that glow with it. The mountains where it grounds the heck out of you. :)

And then we have the fact that we are in a nice big city with a great downtown, and many places where people gather in crowds and release their energies all over the place.

Someday I'll learn how to do a quote properly. I agree with you both. I just moved from the mountains where "it grounds the heck out of you" and now live on the coast where it's just "sparkling in the air with it."

Fact: You get your pleasure where you find it. But, of course, being a primarily Sang, I get my pleasure in bloody places LOL.

Another twist on a good theory. I've noticed several of you mentioned an abundance of water. perhaps there is a direct relation to the proportions?

Although I currently hail from S.C. (decidedly a southern state) I too am originally from a state (MI) with an abundance of lakes. I have found that the higher humidity afforded by the higher temperatures does make a difference in the apparent energy level in the air. Though I miss my home, I feel much more alive here. I cannot explain why.

I think it may very well have something to do with the water.. However, I think it may be something else too.. There is a distinct feel to the energy here that I just can't find anywhere else.. It's not just stronger here, it is here. Absolutely yummy too. I feel my strongest here. I wish I could exlain it better, but I'm telling you the south is where it's at..

There is much more energy in the southeastern U.S. I'm not going to try and find it again, but recently I saw a map of the U.S. showing lightening strikes across the country and the southeast definitely has way more than any part of the country. We have some magnificent storms here that are full of gigantic energy. I live on the coast and the ocean is also an energy filled entity. I feed on blood about twice a week from my two donors, but I also suck up the energy that's all around me.

You can get into some mucky stuff around in this town, especially when messing with Marines. Been there, done that and have a box full of t-shirts

So is that why no one here knows how to drive? I thought it was the local yokals.

Here in Jacksonville, NC it's mostly the marines that drive crazy as hell, Got to remember they come from all 50 states and bring with them the habits they did not leave at home.

MLE knows about this crazy town since she lived here for awhile. Marines can also be very rude. Lots of road rage around here. Now, they are planning to increase the marine population by 100,000 more. Lock up all the women and children

Thought i would answer this since a bunch of people already have

i'm from the north east in the boston area, i know of a few vamps i this area

one thing that i'm seeing is that alot of vamps seem to come from areas where there are a bunch of people. The only problem with that is you really can't pull anything from that due to the fact that the more people the better the chance there will be someone who is a vamp or otherkin. So there maybe a link of some sort or it could be simply a matter of numbers
