This is from a personal experiences in the past.Since my awakening i have found that i have much more control over the way my mind and body works together.Immore intuned so to speak but this showed itself very strongly yestuday.I had to go to the doctors for a small but painful procedure. While i was led wating for the doctor to come in and perform what i was expecting to be 10mins of shear hellish pain i started to control my breathing and concentraiting on disataching myself from my body until it was all over.
The nurse im sure knew what i was doing and kept her hand on my wrist to check my pulse rate. The doctor came in and started to procedure and i felt next to nothing.I could see myself led there with my eyes closed breathing deeply and totaly at ease.
I was just wondering if anyone else had had the same experience because this blew my mind lol
Althought after returning home the pain came thick and fast due to being brought back down to earth so to speak but that level i can deal with and pain killers are wonderful lol
Love and respect

Hey hun glad everything went well had me fingers crossed fr you.

last time i went t othe dentists i tried something similar to relaxing and taking my mind else were but to no avail the dentist in all her wisdom wantied me to slever and grunt in answer to her usless questions of did you go on holiday this year and such like. i asked her to leave me to it but said somehting about having t omake sure that i was still consuse or something or other

having the ability to releive pain is a good thing hun just hope that you dont have to practice it that often

and while i remember put some reiki into the area it should help it heal faster

Hope it all went well hun *hugs*

As for the pain control, as long as you can manage to keep in the right mindframe then it's entirely doable. The main problem that I have on days like today is I wake up in so much pain that it takes me a long while to get into a mindset of controlling it and bringing it back to being bearable... earlier on I just couldn't get up even- bah!

Anyways, glad things are good and talk to ya soon hun *huggles*

I can understand that hun for the last few weeks i have woken up with a realy bad headache and i found it very hard to focas on ridding myself of it because i was already in pain to begin with so i know what u mean babes*hugs*
Yesturday though i knew what was coming so i prepered myself for it*fore warned is fore warned*I was most impressed with the level of concentration i held durin the whole procedure....mostly i find it very difficult to get into my zone and i need total peace but i really surprised myself lol but i surpose when push comes to shove it was either concentrate or be in pain so no option really lol

Have never really taken the time to think of it but now that it was brought into the mind .. I can agree with it ,as for myself I have a very high tolerence to pain even though I take several pain meds daily including morphine ... but then in turn because of my wayward youth also takes alot of meds to do anything as my tolerences toward thos are also very high ... hell I hate dentists as most do I have taken out my own teeth including wisdoms without any sedation ... among other injuries to numerous to mention but includes being shot with a 12 ga shotgun from 5' away .. and as i was being taking from one hospital to another in critical shape i asked the ambulance driver to stop at McDonalds .. I was 12 yrs old at the time

Hmmm...I have completely eliminated my panic attacks through power of the mind.
But, I have ALWAYS had a incredibly high tolerance to pain. From the time I was a small child untill noww.
The only difference.....is the dentist. I cannot stand anyone sticking their fingers with those nasty gloves or anything metal or made of fabric in my mouth and that sets off an irratibility that perhaps distracts the concentration and allows the pain to flow through.
Just a thought.

i hates dentists too. they suck....and it is rather hard to pull a focul point when you have a mouth full of metal and plastic. but ive only had to make it through the first sting of the seringe and then things aint so bad.

ive noticed that women have a higher tolerance for pain then men do. i think it comes from we're the ones that give birth so our bodys release the extra hormones or whatever that help ease pain. plus ever since we were small we've been practicing pretend......put our minds somewhere where our bodys are not. from the least painful thing...like a tattoo or peirceing....to a cervical leep (more painful then childbirth) finding a focal point has allways worked for me....i fall into a spot in the wall. and think of other things. its something i perfected over my time on the road...sometimes its easier and safer to just cave in and give someone what they want....it becomes the emotional pain of the moment that hurts the most. best to just displace your mind sometimes to save your body.

not to say men are wusses. im sure they are able to, to an extent. it might just take more work on their part.. but isnt that their lot in life.

Thats a whole other subject hun lol
I have had the same proceedure done before and i remember the pain i was in too but this time it was different.Im no stranger to the hospital and i think through out my life ive had around 20 different kinds of surgery for one reason or another and ive always been terrifid.Im due to have surgery again next month sometimes its nothing important but this time i dont think i will be getting myself into such a pickle about it.If i can control myself throughout that without anasetic then this will be a doddle lol and i must admit i do like the feeling the meds give u that knock u out i always try to stay awake for aslong as i can and i think last time i got to 5 when they told me to count from 10 backwards lol

I've only had one magor surgery and I remember him telling me to count and me being scared and saying "10" but I don't think I got much farther :p

I do agree about girls being able to handle pain better and work THRU the pain instead of trying to skirt around it.

i thikn its more due to the fact that women go through a painfull menstrual cycle monthly were as males dont so are less likely to be used to the pain thats there but on the flip side anyone whos been through alot of pain on a regular basis is more likely to handel it beter than most

when i was younger my dad was one for hardening me up something that i am thankfull of one of those things that you think is spitefull at that time is now something thats more aparent but hey tis all good

I'd agree with you Preist on this one... I don't think girls can handle pain better, but we are used to it on a more frequent basis in some cases.

I don't think you'd cope well with the period pain that I go through, but on the other hand you've taken knocks without blinking an eye that'd have me on the floor... I think there is a different male to female response to pain from various sources.

i ran a real quick search first article i found served my purpose. i wanted to state something about hormones and levels but knew my words would get all messed up. so heres a article. about four paragrghs down (i think) it talks about women and pain tolerance. its a hormone thing. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2003-02/uomh-pat020703.php

same sort of thing i was taking about gypsy

the only screwed thing is that most males have massive estrogen levels now as well thanks to chemicaly induced beers sort of why you see males with an boobs these days its not just weight its actualy mamary glands growing tee hee and aparantly soya milk contains estorgen hormone as well

but anyway with regards to pain its an intresting thing to know that when you hurt your self the pain reseptors that acknowledge this are further inide the body when they send this signal out it goes to the brain and registers as a severe pain BUT if you rub the area the reseptors at the surface of the skin will send the signal to the same part of the brain now the surface reseptors actualy travel faster than the bottom ones so actualy block out the severe pain signal and eas the pain somewhat so next time you have a bang on the leg rub it to releive the pain.

In cases of pain as i have said women are naturaly more capably of dealing with it its a natural fact in life but from person to person it will change its also a genetic factor if the nerves in the ski nare further paprt then pain is delt with more easily but this is something i have not much previouse knowledge on may be something worth while looking up on
